Pathways
The 4 AS and 3 A Level Pathway
This will be the chosen pathway for the vast majority of our students. Candidates will sit 4 AS levels at the end of Year 12 and choose 3 of those to take on into Year 13. At the end of Year 13 they will sit 3 A Levels. The fourth AS course could be replaced with a BTEC Certificate.
The 5 AS and 3 A Level Pathway
This is a highly academic route and will need to be discussed at interview. Candidates will sit 5 AS levels at the end of Year 12 and choose 3 of those to take on into Year 13. At the end of Year 13 they will sit 3 A Levels. The fourth and/or fifth AS courses could be replaced with a BTEC Certificate.
The BTEC Extended Diploma Pathway
The BTEC Extended Diploma is a stand-alone course and is equiavalent to 2/3 A-levels. While it is not recommended, it is possible to study and additional AS or BTEC Certfificate in Year 12. Most students following this pathway, will find that the BTEC Extended Diploma together with either the Extended Project or Critical Thinking is a complete curriculum.
The Diploma Pathway
Diplomas are stand alone courses and are equivalent to 3/4 A Levels. They involve principle learning, extended project, personal learning and thinking skills together with an Additional Specialist Learning Course.
